GOD is GOOD all the time. And ALL the time GOD is GOOD

As believers, we are accustomed to hearing the “call and response” of my title. I believe way before I could honestly say I knew or understood the total truth of this statement, I was quoting it.

I think that it is especially important to know that this “call and response” is true, and we can rest therein. We can believe in His goodness because we know His character.

The four characteristics of God are omnipresent (always present, here, there, and everywhere all at the same time) omniscient (all-knowing), omnipotent (all-powerful), and omnibenevolent (supremely good). In other words, God knows everything, has the power to do anything, and is perfectly good.

He is the only one able to work all things out for our good. We may not see how that could happen in some situations, but faith and trust in our great God will prove “He is good all the time, and all the time He is good.”

For example, it’s not just when we are trusting God for life’s necessities (new car, new house, husband, or new job), but when we experience disappointments that we did not foresee (a family member to transition, or loss of jobs, limbs, houses) doubt may try to creep in. Is God still good all the time then? Our answer is a resounding “Yes!”

In John 1:5 we are told that “the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” God’s Word is true. It’s amazing! But I have to say that in the most difficult, dark times, when we feel despondent, lost, and confused, the light (presence of God) shineth so bright that the darkness that has come cannot comprehend it. We feel the presence of an all-powerful God holding us and encouraging us during the situation. The situation does not change right away, but we feel his presence “carrying” us along our life’s journey. When feeling His presence, we are made confident that he totally and securely has us and will do all that needs to be done!

As quick as taking a breath a situation may come, making us feel depleted. Stronger than any situation is our “good” God; daily giving us a beacon of hope; daily assuring us that every battle of ours is His. He never leaves nor forsakes us. That is the everlasting persona of a good God. Even when we forsake Him, He stays right there and draws us back unto Himself.

As we know, He is sovereign and always worthy of praise. God tells us in his Word that He is able to make all grace abound toward us; that we always have all sufficiency in all things; and we abound in every good work. So, no matter what comes, God can and will take care of us. He is always with us. He is all-knowing, all-powerful, and supremely good!

Let us continue to make the declaration that “God is good all the time and all the time God is good!”
